In the spirit of a cleaner atmosphere, I recently decided to employ a rule for myself where I put 5 things away before I go to sleep. It's so simple that there's really no reason for excuses, and it helps keep the clutter that I'm notorious for from building to a level of excess; it's also super easy to accidentally put away 15 things before I even realize I've done it.
I've been feeling more motivated and inspired the last week or so, and I'm not sure if it's hormonal, the crystals I've been picking up are working, or something along the same vein of "put 5 things away, accomplish 20". In my newly-found motivation I've decided to try yoga, partially inspired by a friend who I've watched progress immensely the last few months. I actually have a co-worker at my bar who's a yoga teacher, but being able to see someone's real-time improvement documented was a nice little push to seek out that self-improvement.
I've only been doing it for the last few days, and I hope my interest isn't just a fluke, because I've found myself supplementing my yoga with upper-body exercises to build up strength to improve my poses. What! Anyone who knows me personally can vouch that I am not a very athletic person. I bike everywhere, so there's the illusion that I'm in shape because of my legs, but from the waist up I have very little body strength. I did find that I could actually feel the work-out that holding poses like plank and four-limbed staff gave the next day (probably because I'm just that out of shape), and I could feel myself finding my balance a little quicker in doing poses.
It may be a mental thing, but I put my selenite on my mat while doing yoga because it's supposed to aid in mental clarity and overall well-being. I felt that if I was going to commit time to practicing yoga, I should try to clear my mind as best as possible during it and I'd like to think the selenite helps. I actually had the best yoga session (of the handful I've had so far, hehe) yet while both selenite and quartz (which is a power stone, used to enhance energy) were laid out on the end of my mat. Again, maybe purely mental, but it works for me!
I'm excited to see where this goes, and stoked to eventually be able to do more complicated poses. It's crazy seeing your body build up strength based entirely on exercises done with it and nothing else.
Do you practice? And if so, do you prefer to go to a studio or practice at home?
